Water Polo is a year round sport. But we divide the year into 4 "seasons"
Spring season is the primary High School season in Utah. In the spring, HS starts in February and goes through May. It ends with the State Championship Tournament where all the High School teams compete for the best in Utah.
Youth teams also have a spring season. The schedule is much lighter than the High School team as our pool time is limited. Youth teams typically compete in 1 or 2 tournaments and many games against local teams. It ends with the State Tournament in late April early May.
Summer season is primarily for traveling to California to compete in the Junior Olympics. While we do practice throughout the summer, many players are practicing with California teams or going to camps to improve their skills. Summer season ends with the Junior Olympics Tournament in California.
Fall season starts as soon as school starts. All teams compete in a league including 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U. Fall season usually ends with a travel tournament to Colorado in late October.
Winter starts in November and goes through February. The schedule in winter is primarily for practice M, W, F for the youth teams. HS players can join swim team to keep their endurance up.
